If there is a heaven and a hell, one is Maui and the other Alaska.

We had a lot of fun in the sun in Maui this last week. Lisa is already looking forward to 5 years from now when we can go again. Here are some pictures to show you what I mean.

Surfing Dogs at Makena beach.

The world's biggest banyan tree ever!

Hangin' loose in my bitchin' Mustang.

Hangin' ten on Fleming beach with my sweet boogie board.

Sunset, clouds, palm trees ... the sea. Just a few cool things in this picture.

Little Willis and I enjoying some waves.

Moi, and the hot wife soaking in some much needed rays.

A view of our view of the view from the room with a view of the sea.

Thank you happy hour, thank you - we can finally afford to drink here from 3-5pm daily!

Lunch at the famed Hula grille where crappy Pina Coladas are reasonably priced at just $13, but the relaxing ambiance and calming (coma inducing) Hawaiian music are free of charge:) Great fish tacos.

Some Holiday fun.

We took the family to the Alyeska Hotel and got the girls ski and snowboard lessons. A great time was had by all.

Lunch time kiddies.

Alyvia meets her snowboard instructor. It was a good match.

Gettin' stoked!

It was a beautiful day, a little flat light but good overall.

Meeting the ski instructor.

Hiking back to the car.

Waiting for her first ski lesson!

A late night at the hotel, the girls were snuggling with their new pillow pets; a major hit this year.

A huge Spruce was blown over in the most recent windstorm, so I hacked off the top and made it a Yule Tree. We'll burn it next year on the Winter Solstice.

Back to School!

So, I started back on Monday, getting 'training' and cheesy pep talks from district personnel. Kids started Thursday, Alyvia has the same teacher she did last year so the first day was smooth and easy. The 32 day raining streak happily ended the day kids went back to school, typical, so everyone was in good spirits. I'm happy to be finished with school so I can focus on teaching, parenting, and husbanding instead. Love all, see you late.

Moose gets a much needed haircut

Off to the first day of school, Ainsley wants to go too.

At Shaw, waiting for the bell to ring.

Mrs. Blake's classroom.

A beautiful sunset, about 10 pm.

I really do love it here, sometimes.

A deep sigh of relief and the fond memories of a controlled chaos that was this summer.

We finally made it home on Friday morning about 6 am. We were held up in Beautiful British Columbia because one of more than 30 BC wildfires was blocking the only road home. Canada experienced over 600 fires this summer! Wow, that's a lot! Anyways, we had a great time visiting friends and family, dining out in restaurants that don't double as hair salons, and burning in the heat of SLC and Chicago. The summer was full of love and fires, odd bed-mates I agree, but a nice analogy for the cyclical nature of life and relationships. At any rate, we had many incredible and unforgettable experiences with many wonderful people the last 3 months. We hope to see you in AK soon cause we won't be back for a while, unless there is a marriage or death in the family. Pics will follow.
